New Promise Counseling Center required a website and a business identity. The client asked me to base my designs on the style of painter Li Ledger, which was an interesting and fun challenge. After several revisions, we settled on a design that looked much like the artist's painting entitled "Dancing in the Wind".
I created the business cards first, and while doing so, also came up with the design of the logo. Apart, the logo seems like two arbitrary squares next to the wordmark. Once you see the original paintings from the artist, you realize that these type squares are prominently placed in his work. It was only natural then to use these subtle accents in the logo. The juxtaposition of the squares being in a prominent position only draws the eye to the logo even more.
The website was created using XHTML, CSS, and a small amount of Javascript to get the PNG overlays to function correctly in Internet Explorer.
